Last summers, I was in the hospital with my dad for his treatment; unfortunately, he was admitted to critical care unit due to his prolonged illness.Only one person was allowed to meet him and only for two hours during the evening time. It was one of those evenings during the visit hours, I was talking to my dad how he was feeling now.…Near to my dad’s bed was a lady, lying in her bed, she could barely move talk. She was visited by her relatives; I assume her husband and her son. They were talking to her, asking her if she is feeling better, how was the lunch, to which they did not get any response but a smile. The two hours ended and we all left our dear ones there, hoping to meet them soon next day.
Another evening, we all were waiting anxiously outside the CCU with the token in our hand to meet someone who is eagerly waiting for us inside. I was happy to see my dad better than the day before. We were talking when my eyes moved suddenly to the nearby bed where I saw a lady being wrapped in white bed sheets by three nurses. The lady who had an unfinished conversation with her son and husband the day before was no more, she had left for heavenly abode. The hope of meeting her the next day by her near and dear ones were finished; just in a day. I stood there beside my dad, hit by the hard reality of life. I realized how uncertain our life is! My heart sank and I felt I was gripped by an awful thought and uncertain fear.
This is what Life is, you never know what‘s going to happen in the next moment!
This brutal truth of life is saddening but we should not forget that we always have an opportunity to amend the mistakes and restructure our life. It’s unfortunate that people don’t value the real time, precious moment and the meaningful relationship. Unfortunately our life tenure is not in our hands but fortunately, our life depth is in our hands. I believe “God helps those who help themselves”. The actions, the deeds and the decisions that can mend our life are in our hands. It’s not difficult to make our life more structured and meaningful and it’s never late to start something new in your life. If you are not happy with yesterday, do something good today. The bare excuse of “it can be done tomorrow” as never helped anyone in life. Get over the meaningless, dull life and find ways to live the precious moments that we have in this one sole life given to us by God.
I have learned that it’s important to realize the true value of life before it’s late because Regret and Excuses are not accepted even by Life!
“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today” Dale Carnegie
