Hartalika Teej is an Indian festival celebrated by married women in different parts of India.India is multi-cultured country and every month we have one or two festival that calls for a celebration and joyride !!
This Festival marks the day when Lord Shiva reciprocated to the love of Goddes Parvati after her meditation and 108 rebirths. This auspicious day is celebrated by women as they pray to have a life partner like Lord Shiva and have a happy married life.
Solar Shringar (16 elements of makeup) is offered to Goddess Parvati with fruits and sweets.Women fast for an entire day without water and food, worship Lord Shiva and Parvati and a mud Diya(lamp) is lit whole day. Women dressed in new clothes, jewelry and flowers also visit a temple to pay obeisance and perform pooja (worship) with their husbands.

Gujiya is one of the sweet preparation offered to Lord Shiva and Goddes Parvati made with white flour and stuffed with desiccated coconut and jaggery.
Hartalika Teej was celebrated on 24th of August across India mainly in the states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and Nepal.
